Dömitz Fortress is widely known along the Elbe. What is far less well known is that the fortress is actually the citadel of the former fortified ideal town of Dömitz, which was built in the Renaissance style. Mayor Reinhold Suhrau signed the membership in our network at the end of December, thus strengthening the FORTE CULTURA® cluster of Elbe fortresses. By joining the network, Dömitz aims to focus its marketing activities even more on fortress tourism and to initiate processes for the necessary renovation of parts of the fortress.
