The Belgian partner network EFFORTS held its annual congress in 2020 as an online event. Under the patronage of the cities of Oudenaarde (BE) and Šibenik (HR), around 60 members and partners followed a series of engaging presentations, including contributions from the European Institute of Cultural Routes.

The main focus of the congress was a study on the socio-economic impact of fortress monuments on cities and regions. To support this, an online survey was launched among all participants with the aim of quantifying the socio-economic effects of fortified heritage in Europe, in order to more strongly emphasize its importance to policymakers. The survey is open until February 1, 2021. All fortress monuments are kindly invited to take part.
