Se construy\u00f3 entre 1810 y 1878 y, como <strong>ciudad ideal fortificada<\/strong> con una superficie de m\u00e1s de 2 kil\u00f3metros cuadrados, es un impresionante ejemplo de arquitectura militar europea. Ya en 1812, durante las Guerras Napole\u00f3nicas, la fortaleza, que a\u00fan no hab\u00eda sido terminada, se defendi\u00f3 con \u00e9xito de los ataques del ej\u00e9rcito napole\u00f3nico. Es un destino popular para turistas y aficionados a la historia.
