Belfort fue fortificada a partir de 1687 seg\u00fan los planos de Vauban y posteriormente ampliada. La fortaleza desempe\u00f1\u00f3 un papel especialmente importante en el asedio de Belfort, que dur\u00f3 103 d\u00edas, en 1870\/71, una de las \u00faltimas grandes batallas de la guerra franco-prusiana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

El elemento central de la fortaleza es la ciudadela de Belfort, situada en un promontorio rocoso sobre el casco antiguo, con un museo, gastronom\u00eda y una fant\u00e1stica vista panor\u00e1mica. El \u201cLe\u00f3n de Belfort\u201d se erige majestuosamente en su flanco occidental, un monumento a la resistencia inquebrantable de las tropas francesas y a la valent\u00eda del pueblo de Belfort frente a los alemanes durante el asedio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hoy en d\u00eda, la Federaci\u00f3n La Caponni\u00e8re, fundada en 1985, se compromete a proteger el patrimonio militar fortificado del norte de Franche-Comt\u00e9, en particular el cintur\u00f3n fortificado de Belfort. Promueve la cooperaci\u00f3n entre asociaciones, comunidades y voluntarios para devolver la vida a las fortificaciones, preservando al mismo tiempo su historia. La asociaci\u00f3n se esfuerza por sensibilizar al p\u00fablico sobre la importancia cultural de estos monumentos, promover la inclusi\u00f3n y la accesibilidad y apoyar actividades culturales y educativas que refuercen los v\u00ednculos entre generaciones y la regi\u00f3n. Al unirse a la red FORTE CULTURA, estos esfuerzos se internacionalizar\u00e1n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
