Ohrid is a town in the south-west of the Republic of North Macedonia on Lake Ohrid on the border with Albania. The town is known for its medieval churches and monasteries in the beautiful old town and the Samuel’s Fortress above the town, which dates back to Czar Samuel in the 11th century. After an intensive personal exchange with our board member Agnieszka Zurawska-Tatala, the National Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments and Museums – Ohrid declared its membership in the European Fortress Tourism and Fortress Marketing Network.
