International representatives of fortified monuments and interest groups met at Spandau Citadel to establish the „EFFORTS – European Federation of Fortified Sites“ network. The initiative goes back to the earlier EU project AT FORT in the Western European funding area. ECCOFORT proactively participated in the EFFORTS founding conference and declared its membership during the founding ceremony. Both networks, the European Fortress Tourism and Fortress Marketing Network and EFFORTS, pursue similar goals to strengthen the important cultural heritage of fortress monuments. Close cooperation is therefore an obvious choice.
