Costruita tra il 1765 e il 1777, rafforzava la difesa dei confini dello Stato prussiano nella Bassa Slesia. Il sistema di fortezze di Silberberg \u00e8 costituito dal bastione \u201cFort Donjon\u201d, il cuore del complesso, e dalle fortezze secondarie circostanti \u201cWysoka Skala\u201d, \u201cFort Rogowy\u201d e \u201cFort Ostrog\u201d. Furono fortificate anche le colline Chochol Wielki e Chochol Maly. Il risultato fu un potente complesso difensivo che nemmeno Napoleone Bonaparte riusc\u00ec a sconfiggere nel 1807. Gi\u00e0 all'inizio del XX secolo alcune parti dell'antica fortezza sono state utilizzate per il turismo, con ostelli, ristoranti e mostre. Durante la Seconda guerra mondiale, Silberberg fu un campo di prigionia per gli ufficiali polacchi (Oflag VII b).
