International Conference – April 15th, 16th, 17th, 2027
Universitat Politècnica de València, Spain

FORTMED is an International Conference dedicated to the study, analysis, and dissemination of Mediterranean fortifications, as well as those developed in overseas territories (Cuba, Puerto Rico, the Philippines, Panama, Peru, etc.), as a result of the expansion of construction models, defensive strategies, and technical knowledge.

The main objective of FORTMED is to stimulate the exchange of current research and to promote the sharing of results in order to contribute to a better understanding, valorisation, conservation, management, and sustainable use of fortified Cultural Heritage. In this context, the dissemination of research outcomes plays a fundamental role.

The conference adopts an interdisciplinary approach, bringing together architects, building engineers, engineers, archaeologists, historians, geographers, geologists, cartographers, experts in design, restoration and architectural history, as well as specialists in cultural heritage tourism, communication, and heritage management. The aim is to foster the development of a collaborative, integrated, and up-to-date perspective that advances research in this field to the highest level.

On the occasion of this 10th edition, FORTMED will be held in Valencia, April 15th, 16th and 17th 2027 at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingeniería de Edificación of the Universitat Politècnica de València (Spain).
