Ziegenhain is not only an impressive fortress town and therefore a stop on the FORTE CULTURA cultural route, it is also part of the GrimmHeimat and Rotkäppchenland network, touches on the German Fairy Tale Route and many other cultural themes. This gave Schwalm-Touristik the opportunity to discuss the possibilities of fortress tourism together with our network and 24 experts at a symposium and to explore closer cooperation between the cultural routes in order to achieve a high market presence for the town of Ziegenhain and North Hesse as a whole. The fortified castles and palaces as well as fortresses and fortified towns in Hesse and Thuringia are the main interface here. The following were involved: the water fortress of Ziegenhain, the fortified castle of Marburg, the fortified town of Büdingen, the fortified castle of Herzberg, the film castle of Querfurt, the fortress of Felsberg, the fortress of Königstein in the Taunus, the municipality of Jesberg and, as best practice, the town of Germersheim with the fortress region of the Upper Rhine.
