The Rastatt Museum of Military History (WGM) is located in the south wing of the Residenzschloss in Rastatt and deals with modern German military history. Covering an area of around 1,500 square metres, the museum offers an overview of German, and in particular south-west German, military history from 1500 to 1918 and shows the connection between the military, state and society. Director Dr Alexander Jordan is also a member of the FORTE CULTURA Scientific Advisory Board. Rastatt was also one of 5 fortresses of the German Confederation, alongside Ulm, Mainz, Landau and Luxembourg.
