THE BLOGS: Geographic Coverage Score

The table below illustrates our ongoing effort to ensure a balanced geographical coverage of fortress heritage across Europe and beyond. Each year, we aim to highlight both well-established stations and emerging sites, fostering a rich, diverse, and inclusive perspective on cultural heritage. The table shows the number of articles published each year, without regard to their authors, locations, or quality (the focus is therefore purely quantitative). If an article covers multiple countries, its single point is divided among them. Countries which have published at least one article since 2012 were included. In total, 243 articles are published on the Blogs between 2012 and 2025, the table bellow contains last six years with 151 articles in total:

Performance Ratio 2012-2025

The following table summarizes member organizations and individuals based on their Total Membership Duration et overall contribution Total Score to the Blog. The Total Membership Duration column shows how many years each member has been part of the network (in the specific period 2020-2025). Total Score represents their overall contribution within the network in the specific period.

Les Blog Activity Index column calculates the ratio of Total Score to Total Membership Duration (till the end of 2025), highlighting how “productive” or “influential” a country is relative to its membership durations. This provides a more comprehensive view, reflecting not only total activity but also weighted activity based on longevity, giving a clearer picture of which countries contribute most significantly to the network’s online content in the past years (2012-2025).

Les Performance results column categorizes countries into five levels based on efficiency/activity:

• 🔴 Very low – members with very low efficiency
• 🟠 Low – members with low efficiency
• 🟡 Average – members with average efficiency
• 🟢 Good – members with good efficiency
• 🟢 Excellent – members with excellent efficiency

The countries with very short membership (1–2 years), the rating is NA – insufficient data, because the period is too short for reliable comparison.

We can see that the Activity Blog Index is particularly high in countries with new active members. However, it gradually decreases as the number of members grows and they maintain membership for a longer period. In such situations, it becomes unsustainable for the index to remain at the ideal value of 1 – i.e., one article per member per year (total score/membership duration in months*12).

In 2025, only Croatie et Italie reached this ideal threshold. Overall, Italie is the biggest gainer in 2025, which can be explained by the General Assembly held in April 2025 at Forte di Bard. It should be noted that many articles are authored primarily by Board Members; nevertheless, this does not undermine the index, as it still reflects overall activity or interest in the respective countries.

Following Italy are Roumanie et le République tchèque, the next is Espagne. Pologne et Ukraine are on the same level, followed by Saint-Marin. On the other hand, larger countries such as France et Allemagne have a very low index. The situation is particularly concerning for North Macedonia et Hongrie, where there are almost no recorded contributions at all, despite both countries having long-standing members in the network.

Recently, we have been publishing a new article roughly every 10 days, which translates to about 3 articles per month. This marks a significant improvement compared to the previous average of about 16 days, or roughly 2 articles per month. Long intervals, however, occur regularly each year during the summer: practically no articles are published in July and August. The increase in frequency is a notable achievement, yet we continue to prioritize quality. In today’s era of mass AI-generated content, FORTE CULTURA articles are still created by individuals and undergo a thorough review process.

FORTE CULTURA Network website

We have statistical tools that allow us to analyse the full volume of text published across the entire website, including how many words appear in each category. This enables us to measure frequency, distribution, and growth over time, and to compare categories, topics, or even individual geographic locations and the activity of member fortresses in much greater depth — not only by the number of articles, but also by the number of words they contain and by averages per location.

We can also track how the total amount of published content evolves year by year. For example, in 2025 the blog may contain twice as many words as in 2024, even if the number of published articles did not double. And when we look at the website as a whole, it currently contains 93,893 words, which means that reading everything from start to finish would take 6 hours, 15 minutes. We can also focus on the most frequent words that appear across the entire website. By analysing word frequency, we can identify which topics, names, locations, and thematic areas dominate the overall content. This helps us understand not only what the network communicates most often, but also how priorities, themes, and narratives evolve over time.
