The joint scientific committee FORTE CULTURA / EFFORTS organised an evaluation conference on the SUSTAINABLE VALORISATION OF FORTRESS HERITAGE under the patronage of the Juraj Dobrila University in Pula (HR). The online conference aims to support the cultural heritage of fortress monuments through the exchange and discussion of best practices across Europe on various topics. The aim is to develop an international and multidisciplinary scientific and research network and to exchange information and experience related to EUROPEAN BEST PRACTICES in the field of management and development of fortification monuments.

The conference programme focused on five key areas:

  • The fortification system of Pula as an example of the development processes required for a large fortification complex
  • Inventory and building research
  • Restoration and monument protection, conversion and sustainable use
  • Urban and regional development
  • Tourism development and implementation
  • Preparation of possible World Heritage nominations

The conference was recorded online. The video with all contributions can be found on our YouTube channel.
